  3. 📷 What We Need Is Less

I really enjoyed this Becca Farsace video and what it has to say about creativity and constraints. I have absolutely zero interest in a £1599 black and white camera but I really enjoyed the video and loved the part on photo challenges. I especially love some of the challenge ideas mentioned as well. Two that I really want to explore are these two. Pick a colour and only shoot pictures including that colour Take photos in one location for a set amount of time Also makes me want to do a B&W only…

He’s back from his adventures! 🛬 After nearly 6 months away, Elliot has returned to the UK with many stories and photos from his adventure to tell. As well as bringing me my konbini socks 🤣 We kept this secret so I didn’t mention it on my blog. His girlfriend and he were travelling home to be there for his girlfriend’s father’s birthday and we didn’t want to spoil the surprise. 😌 I’m now off work for a week! 🤘 One advantage of working in the public sector is the holiday allowance is pretty…

We’re back baby! After a bit of a hiatus I’m very pleased to say that I have a fresh E1HOAS hot out of the oven for you. Better late than never, here’s the shots that have made me 👀 this time. I will attempt to keep it on track this time! 🤞 I really do enjoy hunting through the photography hashtags on Mastodon to pick out some gems that caught my eye. You can read more about these posts on its series page here. @lubosblazek@mamutovo.cz ✨ I really liked the etherial off kilter look of this but…

Halide 3 is out! 🥳 Took a quick shot on my way to work. Initial thoughts are that I like it! Editing in-app is much more robust. Film emulation and in-app editing has a lot of dials to tweak. I’m excited to dive in over the weekend! 🤳 Shot and tweaked all in Halide III

  8. Donkey Kong Bananza Review

It didn’t quite reach the heights of Super Mario Odyssey for me which will remain an all timer but this is an extremely solid and polished action platformer the likes of which you’d only get from Nintendo. DK and Pauline are a fun teamup and the transformation powers you get are extremely fun, whilst some are more useful than others 1 The deformation tech is seriously impressive 2 and they do have fun with it without making you think too hard about what’s going on. It’s not quite a Minecraft or…

🦋 Heatwave! ☀️ We’re enjoying some wonderful weather this week and it’s fantastic to get out into it! Bank holiday weekend as well so Monday off 🥳 🏠 More home stuff has been done! My youngest son’s bunk-bed/desk has been dismantled and is on Facebook Market Place. It’s replaced with my eldest son's bed. Our old bed is now in our eldest son’s room so it’s all changeroo’d! We’re still on the hunt for furniture and are arranging to have the radiator re-mounted (I don’t feel confident enough to do…

  10. 🤳 Weymouth Beach Walk

Shot with 65×24 I had some errands to run on Friday 1, and with the weather being so beautiful, I just couldn’t resist detouring to Weymouth Beach to walk along the seafront for half an hour. In classing British style, I’m sure we’ll all be moaning that it’s too hot in a few weeks, but it felt incredibly good to get out into the sunshine and have a good walk. Shot with mood.camera

  14. Scotland Diaries : Cairngorms Day 6

Travel day 😢 Holiday over already! We’ve got a flight at 12:30 to make! So let’s get ready! Bunnies were a frequent site in the garden We’d done most of our packing the previous night, so all we had to do was give the property a good clean and tidy, double check we’d packed everything, have some breakfast and say our goodbyes 👋 KJ’s Bothy Bakery What a cute space packed with goodies! Again being foodies we’d scoped out KJ’s Bothy Bakery via online reviews ahead of time and knew it was

A Crow seen whilst we were eating the other day I skipped a week last week as I just didn’t that much to say. Some weeks you’re just riding the wave of boring adult life and there’s just not that much to share 🤷I’d rather skip a week than just write something without much to it. 📐 My youngest is in the midst of his GCSE’s1, so is in crunch mode for a few weeks. He’s doing well, keeping up wth his revision plan whilst also making sure to come up for air as well. He went to a concert last night…

  16. Scotland Diaries : Cairngorms Day 5

Our final full day already! 🥲 This has been such a special holiday. We’ve been to more urban Scotland before (Edinburgh), Dundee, Aberdeen (For work) but this Cairngorms trip is the first real time I feel like I’ve experienced rural Scotland on my own terms and it’s been a delight. It’s reminded me just how much I love walking as well. After some breakfast and packing lunch we set off for another walk. I was excited for the scenery potential on this one! Loch Muick Walk I had to come to a Loch…

  17. 🤳 Portland House:Weymouth

Today we went to local National Trust property Portland House. A 1930’s Art Deco “Hollywood Spanish” design. Commissioned by a Geoffrey Henry Bushby tragically he died only a few months after it was completed. His wife and daughter contemplated selling it but ended up staying their whole lives, with the daughter donating it to the National Trust in the 70’s under the proviso that she could live there as a Tennant until her death. Since then, the National Trust has spent nearly £500,000 bringing…

  18. Scotland Diaries : Cairngorms Day 4

Today was mostly about the Balmoral Cairn walk. Essentially, we’re off to see some posh royal pyramids. In the same area, we planned to try a Scottish delicacy, a buttery. A high-fat bread similar to a croissant. 😋 Cairn Walk 🚜 A slightly cooler day today, but still nice and clear. Perfect for a lovely walk. This was a much more dense forest for us to explore. Some say this walk is a bit boring and touristy, but I don’t know what to say… hater’s gonna hate… Personally we loved

Off we go! Glenmulliach Forest Today we had a couple of things on the itinerary. A walk in the Glenmulliach Forest near Tomintoul was first up. We chose this as it wasn’t too hard or boggy and would give us some elevation and a variation of scenery. I don’t think we saw another person the entire time we were walking, which is pretty crazy to think about. Up the hill

  21. Lunch with Paragliders 🪂

We stopped off today for lunch at the lookout cafe after we visited several antique/second hand furniture/new furniture shops. But alas a wardrobe still eludes us for now. You can’t beat the lookout though. Great food and great views. Whilst eating our delicious nachos and looking out over Weymouth beach we also got to see some local paragliders flying around the local clifftop. Here’s some photos and I whipped up a little video of one gliding through the air.

Painting done! 🤘furniture moved back into place. Light fitting is loose for plastering and painting so I can put that back up properly tomorrow now and pick a new light fitting. Now just more furniture and hanging paintings etc… (and finding someone who can put our radiator back on lol)

Here! Have two post images this week! Why not? A delightful Matcha at new local cafe The Pickle Jar and a cute cat I saw on the way home from the gym. 🌔 Did some out of hours work at near midnight on Monday. Final part of a project to make the hospital internet faster. It went well and I was congratulated on the prep I did to ensure that happened. That same work now enables us to move a bunch of other projects forwards to connect to other services as well. No rest for the wicked. 🏃 Gym work has…

eBay does make me laugh sometimes with the questions people ask. On a £3 game someone messaged me asking quite detailed questions on what type of packing and padding it would be sent in. I was sooooo tempted to write a reply like the below 👇 “Your experience will start with our hand-made, lacquered oak box leading to a velour lining that will caress the Game Disk like a newborn whilst HRH’s finest Royal Mail employees wing your purchase to you tout de suite.” I settled on just telling them it’s…

Just a random shot whilst at the pub Friday night. I really like the composition. Weeks are going by fast! I can’t believe we’re nearly into May already 😳 Wasn’t it just January and storms?!?! When you’ve got lots going on, both personal and professional, time appears to be at hyper speed 🚗💨 But! It’s been a decent, productive week all things considered, and the fact that the Sun is making more appearances has been extremely welcome. 🤳 I wrote an actual proper blog post on a topic that wasn’t…

After reading this post about a dynamic /now page from Pika builder Barry Hess I’ve gone all in and converted my hardly updated now page to dynamically load my latest Stuff This Week post instead. 28. The Amazing Programmable Camera in your pocket 🤳

despite all their drawbacks, mobile phones are the only fully programmable camera systems available on the market, and that makes them extremely exciting to me as a designer and photographer — Héliographe As I continue to avoid or put off buying a “proper” camera and stubbornly use my phone as my primary camera, the above quote really does raise my spirits about phone photography and the possibilities it unlocks. Using your phone allows you to explore the weird side of photography with a really…

Trio is enhoying the sunshine. A nice picture taken by my dear wife ❤ 🇯🇵 My son has reached the Japan phase of his holiday and I am 100% living vicariously through his pictures and videos. Being an extremely good son he has already completed his mission of acquiring the holy trinity of Konbini socks for me 🤣 They are doing Osaka > Kyoto > Tokyo. I think we have things we want them to bring back for us from each location 🤣 🍽🎮🍬 🏚 House renovations continue on! Carpet fitted. Mist paint coat on…
