It didn’t quite reach the heights of Super Mario Odyssey for me which will remain an all timer but this is an extremely solid and polished action platformer the likes of which you’d only get from Nintendo. DK and Pauline are a fun teamup and the transformation powers you get are extremely fun, whilst some are more useful than others 1 The deformation tech is seriously impressive 2 and they do have fun with it without making you think too hard about what’s going on. It’s not quite a Minecraft or Physics based game but different materials have different strengths and interactions with each other. Water cleans mud. Mud sticks to stuff. Metal is harder than wood. Ice melts in lava. Stuff like that. Graphics and audio are great. It can get slightly choppy in the frame rates at times when too much is going on but it’s also a beautiful looking game.
