after my first official iPhone 17 Pro Max suffered from snapped plastic, my second one appears to be suffering from the cloth covering coming away from the case itself and bubbling up. After my last warranty experience to get it swapped I don’t think I can be bothered to go through the hassle just to have something else happen I a few months. I think this is my last official Apple case. 👎 Third party case time I think. Time to check out my options. 🔍
5am start before work to get to the gym for a strength session (I did cardio last night). 🥲 Tired, but a good tired. I’m glad I made the effort. I’ve worked out every day since returning from holiday. It’s interesting what having two weeks off has done to my strength performance. Some workouts I’m in the exact same place, others I’ve had to drop the weight down on to try and build back up. My performance just isn’t there like it was a couple of weeks ago. Shows how routine is important to…
A shot from our stop in Milan on our trip 🏍️ Back from holiday and tomorrow I will return to work1. This weekend has been about those practical “Returned from holiday” type jobs. Holiday washing has been done. House has been cleaned and tidied. We also emptied and defrosting the media room fridge that our eldest son left open for 4 days without noticing (That was a nice bonus) 🙄 YNAB has been updated and I only partially passed out as I input the holiday costs and balance the books 2. Now it’s…
We have two of these on our roofs at the moment! ❤️ Last week was focused on trying (and mostly failing) to beat the heat as we struggled with this European heatwave. 🥵 🚂 Interrailing is very soon now. Suitcases are taken out of the loft, they are being packed. We have packing lists. Attraction lists. New clothes have arrived. All very exciting. We’ve even upgraded our Belgium hotel to a nicer one slap bang in the middle of town. I’m glad we’re not travelling during this heatwave which I think…
No Every 100th today as I totally forgot 🤣 I’ve been at a work thing the last two days so I just been distracted and haven’t had the time! I’m going on holiday soon as well so I might just go on break until August when I’m back ❤️
It’s still hot, but at least it’s a whole 10C cooler than yesterday. Drinks and dinner al fresco at a nearby bar 😎
Toe twins 🐾🦶
We (finally! 🥳) picked our wardrobe up tonight that we’d bought via eBay. Unfortunately one piece was too big to fit in the car 😱🤔 Undeterred and full of gym energy it was 1 mile from where we live, so I felt The weight and just went “I’ll just hoof it home” 20 minutes and a lot of sweat later… we’ve done it! 🤣
Another week another blur of activity as I sit to write this with a pint of fizzy water with a dash of lime whilst my house is currently 24c and due to get to 28c today. Mini heatwave! I haven’t really taken and photos this week, so here’s a Trio in the garden! 🥩 It is father’s day in the UK and I’m doing that very stereotypical bloke thing of cooking a steak for dinner. I’m making a chimichurri to go with it as well as Chef John’s scalloped potato gratin (the best!). I probably won’t be able…
Another Friday, another Every 100th! 👏👏👏 Only three shots this week, but they’re three that I really, really love. I hope you do too. 😊 You can read more about this series here. Onto the pics! @tubemapper@mastodonapp.uk This is a reminder to get a bit more out the box, get my camera at floor level and look for some puddles. I really like the framing and the warmness of the tunnel lights with the cold overcast day in the distance as well as the reflection. I desperately need to start being a bit…
Seagulls get a lot of hate, but I love them (I wear two different seagull badges on my lanyard) I love this time of year because they make nests on the hospital roof and I get to see the babies grow growing up 😊 Sooooo flooooofy!
We’re in the middle of June already! Wow! Where did the time go!? A busy tech week with Not-E3 and Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference meaning there’s been a lot of news and videos to catch up on! 🏋️♀️ Gym work wasn’t bad but my Friday session was shocking. I just didn’t have a lot of energy. I do blame having a few beers the night before. Didn’t get any PB’s put it that way! Thankfully a return to form this morning with me doing pretty well. I think I’m reaching a point where I’m wanting…
Drying off 🏊
Bedroom renovations continue! My wife got these funky dangly cabled lights and some nice retro bulbs so I put them up on the wall today. Looking good! 💡
It’s still Friday in the UK and I promised to be consistent with the posting of these, so instead of playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade I’m writing this because I’m keeping to my promise damnit! So here’s the photos I’ve thought are rad this week. You can read more about this series here. it’s a bit of a Pixelfed special this week. I didn’t mean it to be, but hey here we are! @noldal@pixelfed.noldal.net I really like the brightness and contrast in this shot. It really signifies the…
A nice moody walk on the beach this afternoon for my cardio 🚶♂️
Me & Trio. She loves being under a blanket A day late and a dollar short but here we are. My week off work has come to an end and I was thrown back into the working maw once again. Ah well I had a good run. It was an enjoyable and productive week even if I didn’t have the weather. 👨💻 First day back at work wasn’t too bad. I’ve decided to rescind my application for the job I applied for. Thinking deeper about my reasoning I realised I wasn’t applying because I was interested about the…
🚨 Warning. This is going to be a slightly more grumpy post from me than you usually get. I woke up slightly on the wrong side of the bed this morning and even a good gym session couldn’t get me out of a Mr Cranky Pants kinda mood. Whilst on the treadmill I checked my Masto feed and watched a bit of YouTube… Today this got me yelling at clouds. I had a concentrated flurry of influencer nonsense and AI Bro garbage. I’m only on Mastodon nowadays, and I mostly follow normal 1 people but do follow a…
Told ya I’d stick to it 🫡 Here’s another little list of photos found via Mastodon this week that have sparked joy or a creative influence within me. You can read more about these posts on its series page here. Anyway, onto this weeks photos! Just 3 this week. I did manage to check in on the #photography timeline quite a bit being on holiday this week, but what can I say, it’s quality not quantity! 🤷 @purplelime@social.lol ✨ Just a really natural well framed tech shot which reminds me to take…
I’ve been a fan of Kane Parsons’ Backroom series and other works since they first popped up on YouTube. I talked about this upcoming movie and the whole aesthetic of the “Backrooms” and liminal spaces when I reviewed the Pools game a few months back. It’s very much my vibe and I gel with it a lot. It’s my kind of slow creepiness. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to see how they would adapt this into a full-sized feature film. A feature film backed by no less than A24. A feature film where…
I’m having quite a good week for Food! A visit to that temple of consumerism Costco wouldn’t be complete without eating a slice of pizza as big as my face. 🍕 😋
Tonight’s dinner, as my pescatarian wife is out with friends, was Vietnamese-style pork belly with rice and satayed bok choy salad. No recipe for this as I sort of freestyled and whacked about 3 different recipes together 🤣 came out well though!
As mentioned in my stuff this week as I’m on annual leave I’m doing the lions share of the family Cooking this week. Yesterday I made this BBC Goodfood Masala Chana Chaat by Chetna Makan. This was delicious and we’ll absolutely be making it again. Easy and quick for a family weekday meal but full of different textures, great spices and just enough heat in the chutney with two green chillies blended into The herb mix. Veggie too! We served it with elephant atta chapattis. 😋
Oh how I’ve missed big, bombastic video games like this. Games like the Uncharted series on PlayStation. As games move towards being multiplayer service-focused games, you don’t find as many massive single-player focused action adventure games with this amount o budget as you used to. With their experience on the Hitman series of games, IOI knocked it out of the park with this one and has made one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in quite a while. It’s just such a fun mix of stealth,…
This poster at the movies yesterday could be an update on my life status 🤣
As part of Dorset Art Weeks, there was a little showing of some local artists’ works in a little temporary space this morning. Lovely pieces in a lovely space, and the sun has even decided to make an appearance!
I’m a fan of the Waitrose Dish podcast and love the quick fire questions bit that they ask guests on the show. This is an example 👇 Seeing as my invite appears perpetually lost in the mail I’ve decided to instead take some of the questions they ask 1 and answer them here as a bit of fun, because why not! 🤷 If you do the same, post it and let me know! Ok, here goes…. What is your favourite way to eat eggs?A soft soft soft scramble. A technique I have mastered over a long time experimenting.…
I really enjoyed this Becca Farsace video and what it has to say about creativity and constraints. I have absolutely zero interest in a £1599 black and white camera but I really enjoyed the video and loved the part on photo challenges. I especially love some of the challenge ideas mentioned as well. Two that I really want to explore are these two. Pick a colour and only shoot pictures including that colour Take photos in one location for a set amount of time Also makes me want to do a B&W only…
