First film of the year. I only heard about the film last week and ‘sci-fi by spielberg’ was enough of a hook to go and see it at the flicks. I went in without reading anything about it at all. A fine film, not really memorable, kind of like a feature length x-file. Emily Blunt superb as ever. The film is called Ημέρα Αποκάλυψης here, Apocalypse Day meaning Revelation Day in greek. Cine Alsos The cinema though!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️!! My first visit to the amazing outdoor Cinema Alsos in nea filadelfia down…
Growing up in the 1980s, I vividly recall anti-drunk driving campaigns led by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (M.A.D.D.) and Students Against Drunk Drivers (S.A.D.D.). Drunk driving and alcohol-related traffic accidents had become an epidemic which needlessly took the lives of so many young people. To combat this issue, Reader’s Digest magazine launched a nationwide contest... Below Deck Med season 11 episode 2 had a lot of crew/work drama, which is just what I want from this show, but there was also a moment of the real world affecting one crew member.
The first recording today starts with the end of Arthur. There’s an episode of Newsround. There’s a trail for We Are The Champions. Then it’s Barney’s Barrier Reef – A to B. Another show hosted by Barney Harwood, although he’s joined by Gemma Hunt. They’re looking at a lot of creatures living in the Great Barrier Reef. There’s the Sunfish. The Triggerfish. The Flatworm. The Spanish Dancer. The Imperial Shrimp The Marine Snail. The Frogfish. The Epaulette Shark. The Shark The Octopus. The…
Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 21st March 2026 Finland’s Nachtgnawer are made up of members from many of their Purity Through Fire labelmates, including Coraxul and Licht Des Urteils, and their grim black metal sound has a lot of familiar notes along with it. But their new EP ‘Medieval Devourer’ has more to show than just straight forward aggression and savagery; no this has an approach to the sound that I think will intrigue many a listener. ‘Medieval Devourer’ is out now. Unbearably raw…

The auction is being conducted by Julien's Auctions in conjunction with Turner Classic Movies. The Ann Miller Collection includes a wide array og items from her career in movies, on television, and on Broadway. There are several…

The actor who played Fergus on The Traitors said he was not rehired for The Traitors US season 5—and said season four "was not much fun to make."
I had this on VHS about a million years ago. HAXAN is a lovely little thing, genuinely strange, and I am looking forward to discovering the ton of extras they’ve bundled in here. This is the UK only release: the US+ has a different version on Criterion. I don’t think I had ever watched this movie from start to finish, and boy was it a ride. I was constantly at the edge of my seat. It was really fun to follow the different plotlines. From Marin and Pippin siding with the Ents, Frodo and Sam being guided with Gollum, and Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn fighting at Helm’s Deep, I enjoyed all of it. I am excited to finishing the trilogy with Return of the King!

“A person is, among all else, a material thing, easily torn and not easily mended.” Next to grace the Chichester Festival Theatre is the world première stage adaptation of Ian McEwan’s novel Atonement. After bringing the story to the big screen in 2007 (starring Saoirse Ronan as the young Briony Tallis, James McAvoy as Robbie Turner & Keira Knightley as Cecilia Tallis), Christopher Hampton now turns his hand to transferring to the theatre; this production is directed by Adam Penford and stars…

WM picked all three of these movies, because I am currently saving my movie-demands capital for the Hadestown pro shot in July. Marriage is about compromise, and compromise sometimes looks like Jason Statham. Masters of the Universe (in theater) We were two of the approximately 200 people who went to see this opening weekend. This one was surprisingly charming and fun. Barbie ran so He-Man could casually jog. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there is a sweet explanation for why characters…

It’s no secret that the Hollywood Comet loves musicals. In 2010, I revealed I had seen 400 movie musicals over the course of eight years. Now that number is over 600. To celebrate and share this musical love, here is … Continue reading →
Wou know that summer is on the way when you see notices for programs like Vacation Playhouse, which will be filling in for Gomer Pyle starting next week. Reruns dominate the rest of the night, except for that special on gambling that I mentioned on Friday. But I think the Minnesota Twins game on WTCN looks very attractive, especially since this is the year the Twins go to the World Series. At least that's what I was probably watching, since this TV Guide is from the Twin Cities. Y -2- KTCA…
“A man is his job” Shelley Levene declares in David Mamet’s evergreen depiction of salesmen in a cut throat California property office which has become a classic depiction of 80s posturing masculinity, a play that seems to always speak to the inheritance of a certain type of aggressive manliness undercut by themes of ageing, personal […]

'Moviedrome' ran, intermittently, on BBC2 from May 1988 to June 2000. The format was simple, hosts Alex Cox (series 1-7) and Mark Cousins (series 8-12) introduced a 'cult movie', or two, of the sort that were almost never shown on British TV and, in those halcyon years, long before the arrival of the internet, were often unheard of by those of us growing up in more remote parts of the country, with little or no access to any sort of 'arts' cinema, and it quickly became a Sunday night staple for…

Luigi Maggi, co-directing somehow with two other blokes, gives us the earliest probably version of THE LAST DAYS OF POMPEII. It surprised me right off the bat with its distinctive dramatis personae sequence — we get a shot of each member of the cast glowering, simpering or boggling, as appropriate, accompanied by a superimposed text […]

After her death in 1935, Einstein wrote that Emmy Noether (left) was "the most significant creative mathematical genius thus far produced since the higher education of women began." This delightful animated short tells the story of a train journey she took, usually told as a moment when she suddenly realised the connection between symmetries and conservation laws while travelling, but - alas - historians have found little contemporary evidence for the story. Like the tales of Newton and the…
As part of my extensive research into Mark Frost and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, I maintain multiple open investigations into the details about my beloved television show. I may start a research project only to return to it years later. I’ve discovered that if I wait, sometimes the stars turn and the mystery is revealed. This... First Light box My youngest daughter and I recently started playing the tabletop game HeroQuest. Specifically, the recently-issued, cut-down variant HeroQuest: First Light. This is quite advanced for her age, and I'm a little surprised she's taken to it, but she's really loving it, It's pushed her to read bits of lore on cards and quest books that is way above her expected reading level, and we've been exercising her maths by adding up the gold we find on our quests and calculating what the…
