No idea of the author, but thank you. Feel free to reach me publicly in the guestbook or privately via email. Warning: I will eagerly answer!
Big Tech bad. We probably agree that much since we are here in Bear. Big Tech US-based (at least mostly). US not privacy friendly. US ran by absolutely insane unit of a person. Need to run from US. Change tech to EU-based alternatives. Because EU has GDPR. EU privacy friendly. EU friendlier in general. They are on Mastodon too! If you believe that EU-based technology is fundamentally "good" you are either uninformed or crazy bananas. If you believe that the EU is friendly to its citizens'…
This piece by Markham Heid reached Hacker News, so it reached me. I gave it a go since is a topic that I have already thought of several times. I listen to music. Used to do it even more, a freaking lot, like most of the day, both awake and asleep. That includes having headphones with me while walking, on the bus, train, etc. Even when I was at school I always had my headphones hanging from the neck of my shirt. Btw it was only after buying my current eadburds that I stopped using headphones,…
EDIT: What if... mbrserver.com I am no audio enthusiast. I love listening to music, I have around 2.7K songs in my Navidrome library (out of Spotify, yay!), and just recently I started getting part of it from Bandcamp. I bought every album containing at least one song already in my library, given that the album costed $5 max. I spent around $120. Concerts are nice. I haven't been in a lot, maybe 5, but never concerts that I needed to travel, spend a night out, or costed me more than $30. In…
This post is a reach for help. Not a desperate one, I'm good (thanks for worrying though). But I could use a hand, not gonna lie. I have two questions, but I kindly ask you to read a bit to find them! Thanks. I work full time, and I am also a full time uni student. Life got messy back in the day and here we are. Where I study, every single week I have to do an exam/project. The good part is that I don't have the typical end of semester exam weeks, but it means that there is no rest weekend…
I just logged into LinkedIn (yeah I feel sorry for myself too). Not even a minute into it, I see a post from a HHRR lady with a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation. It's with a guy who was supposed to start his new position that same day, but doesn't show up, and 3-4h later says something like: Hello, today was my first day, but I couldn't assist because of a personal issue I had this weekend, leaving me trapped in another city and unable to go to work. I am now available, if I wasn't…
At some point, I had the task of helping demolish and re-construct a whole house, where I would at least partially live. It wasn't in the middle of nowhere, but I can assure that wasn't the big apple. In fact, what I want to talk about is pears. Kind of. The house had (still has) a big terrain, and around 50% of it had trees. I am fond of four of them: a Pyrus communis (pear), several Prunus dulcis (almond), a Citrus × sinensis (blood/red orange) and a Citrus × limon (lemon). I hope I used…
Today I really tried. Not all the time. But when I less wanted, I did. When it was the hardest, I tried. I hope this motivates tomorrow's me to try. I hope it encourages you to try. Feel free to reach me publicy in the guestbook or privately via email. Warning: I will eagerly answer!
Hello fellow BearBloggers (BBs? Babies? someone stop me I am going insane). Didn't post in a while and I had something planned but life always gives us the best little surprises. I am here to scream. What the fuck is wrong with online logins? Just to begin with, I need an account for absolutely anything. Want to use this cool webapp? Well give me your email address, create a username, and have even more freaking data points in your life, surely nobody will try to exploit those to learn more…
