I dream of starting a company that makes products that last a really long time, designed to be repaired, with easy access to replacement parts, and freely available 3D printing plans for making the uncomplicated parts. This is an objectively terrible business plan. To counter that, I will need a team of smart people to invent new products, in new fields, that can be made by reusing as much of our growing catalogue of parts from other items. As long as we keep making new stuff, we will be around…
Inland, they have a red warning for heat up to 40°C. We only have an amber warning. It’s 24°C where I am.
They sit you at a table and then bring you a single slice of hot toast. When you are done, they bring you another. Have as much toast as you want for a fixed price. One hot slice at a time. Tea, coffee, etc., can be extra. As can things to spread on your toast.
A while ago, I made myself a website I called Matt’s Web Way. It is just a little script that converts markdown documents into very light HTML with the minimum extra markup and the tiniest bit of CSS. Today, I made it ever so slightly faster. I moved the tiny bit of CSS into a CSS file from the page template – all 43 lines of it.
If you and your friends started making up new words or words to replace common words, and just used them until the group understood them. And if you gave each other high fives each time a new word was used, the positive feedback would increase new word recall. So if you did this at an average rate of one new word every week, within a few years, those not in the group would struggle to understand your secret code. And in 20 years, you would pretty much be speaking a whole new language.
I’ve hit Infinity 11 on The Perfect Tower 2.
Am I the only one whose inner monologue has a DJ playing music?
I’m soon to leave my 40s behind and have yet to figure life out. Kids, teens, and other young ones, there’s no rush. No one has things figured out; we’re all making it up as we go along. Also, yes, I used a semicolon; semicolons are cool.

I love using WebMention, but I find so few posts that I feel I can reply to. I am desperately hungry for WebMention content that asks open-ended questions I can reply to. I follow the Open Mentions WebMention topic closely (I follow them all because I made it), so ping something there or WebMention this post if your site is rich with fun stuff I can respond to.
I’m installing Hermes because sometimes I like to play with AI. Also, I am a massive geek.
Due to rounding, you can fit infinitely many A20 sheets of paper into a single A4 without ever overlapping any A20s.
I created the website OpenMentions so there would be a collection of topics you could freely mention to tell other people you wrote something about a topic they are interested in. Anyone can use it. OpenMentions has been around for a while, but I thought I’d bring it up again to get the word out.
I want to see a fantasy story where all the expectations are turned upside down. The noble rat folk lead a quest to remove the vile sewer elves from the city of the meek orc clerics. The well-respected order of necromancers takes a stand against the evil artificer army led by the party of princesses who saved the handsome but useless dragon prince from the humans. That sort of thing.
I generate my own bugs, thank you very much. Bugs that are too dumb for an AI to replicate.
I took a break. That was hours ago. I’m sure I’ll start back at it any day now.
Today’s Today In Emoji now notes ⚜️ Joan of Arc, 🌊 James Cook, and ⚛️ The Day of Remembrance for All Victims of Chemical Warfare.
Reply posts not appearing in the main WP Query loop I can’t replicate on other blogs either. I’ve been switching plugins in and out without much success so far. I can shadow ban my posts by using the reply block. (I’m fairly confident this won’t appear on my blog).
Does any other WordPress user find that their ActivityPub reply posts are hidden? (Like these).
