  4. I’m writing some code

It will be some stuff for WordPress that does cool things with the ActivityPub plugin. The first test is called Global Tags. Follow hashtag #APWPGlobalTags for updates on that little thing.

  5. Some of my ideas have the approximate life expectancy of a cute and tiny ice sculpture of a panda if it fell into a freshly made steaming mug of Earl Grey tea.

Others, like this one, last long enough for me to write them down.

  6. What do you mean by “gaming addict”? I only played Incremental Infinity for 17 hours.

I got most of the achievements too.

  8. Here’s a word for you: idioglossia

That’s a language spoken by one or very few people. Why do I mention it? Because there is a page on one of my websites titled: Matt’s idioglossia: A crap primer. It attempts to document for the first time the weird shorthand I use for notes intended only for me. Not to be confused with familect, which is the strange dialect you and your family speak to each other.

  9. NGL, that was a satisfying run given the difficulty level

The full game is out in 6 days. What do you mean by “counting the days”? Honestly, this demo feels like a full game already.

  12. My day so far

Got up after a good long sleep and decided to add some pictures to my /me page. Decided that the pictures should be hosted on the same domain but that another subdomain was probably okay. Got sidetracked checking out my many open tabs with the intention of closing some. More tabs are now open. Browsed places I have previously shared pictures. Got sidetracked looking at my past photography. Post the first picture to my social media node (here). Added it to my /me page. Added a link to my site…

In reply to Getting diagnosed with ADHD by Jamie Tanna: Thank you for sharing your experience with the diagnostic process. Of the 18 questions you list, I answered Very Often for more than I care to admit. It was a lot. It might rank as the most helpful comment on a dump of tabs I’ve had open too long ever. I should definitely blog about stuff I’ve been exploring more often.(I found your post via a reply to this post on my main blog)

  14. For no reason, I’m sharing a picture of me giving a goofy grin from the time I met Hattie Hayridge, who played Holly in Red Dwarf from series 3 to 5.

I was with my dad on Father’s Day at the Sci Fi By The Sea one-day convention. I paid for Dad to get a signed photo from Hattie, who was lovely. For reasons known to no one, her queue was tiny and had been occluded by the other queues. Dad and I were having a sit-down and a beer when a friend of mine (Andy, I believe) came and told us that Hattie was thinking of going home. We had been avoiding meeting any celebs because neither of us felt able to stand for that long. Thus, a short queue for…

I’ve reverted to the 6.x kernel, which stopped a lot of crashes and freezes.

  18. Matt vs Spam: My No Spam Framework

Today, I remembered that I started an anti-spam framework project a while back. I’d done a lot of the legwork and just got distracted at some point. So, I put in some hours and progressed the project. It works using some pretty old-school anti-spam techniques as well as a few of my own invention. The framework loops through a collection of different tests and gives the comment or signup in question a score to determine how spammy it looks. I started the project because a small handful of simple…

  19. In Star Trek, characters are always asking the computer or holodeck to generate a recursive algorithm, a subroutine, or a program for them.

Star Trek was vibe coding before it was cool.

In my head, they say “Wassad” or possibly “Wazzad”.

  24. Who loves ya?

I was thinking of creating a WordPress plugin that celebrates the community based on who actively interacts with your blog’s content. I thought it might create pseudo-profile pages for the most active commenters, boosters, likers, etc… The page would show only the information they freely shared (but not their email address), most likely a link, a handle, an avatar (if present), and what they interacted with and any recent comments.

  29. Snapshot of my blog’s reactions by week

I love getting likes, shares, and all that. I also enjoy charting things. Thus, I charted some data from my fediverse instance that is also a blog. As well as being a bit of the fediverse, this account is also a single-user #WordPress blog. It receives ActivityPub likes, replies, and boosts, WebMentions, pingbacks, trackbacks, pings, and local comments. The data for the chart is updated once a day and does not show the current week. That’s to stop the last data point looking low and to stop me…
