It’s been a rough few weeks. I expect things to settle down a little bit over the next few weeks but next week cannot come soon enough as we are off for a couple of days to unwind a little. Mental break is definitely in order.

The world we have is incredibly far displaced from the want many of us have. This is normal. What I have struggled with the most is the oceans between people. The previously, generally agreed upon norms, of what was and simply wasn’t acceptable, have been completely destroyed. Instead we find genuinely disruptive and morally bereft leaders, new money oligarchs and the rules of the jungle have taken over. Is the world we are building and leaving for the next generation is much worse than the one…
⚽ World Cup day. Kids are excited. With 48 teams, it’s actually amazing how many teams I want to do well in this tournament. FIFA are a horrible, arrogant and corrupt organisation, but they know how to put on a good show I guess.

For years Siri has sucked so bad. The worst AI ever. I can’t remember how many times I’ve added a bunch of swear words after or before the word Siri. Will these updates make it any better? Honestly don’t care because they should have done this a long while ago (instead of putting their heads in the sand). Honestly the only ‘feature’ that I am excited about is the fact that my phone might be 30% fast or some shit like that.
Carl didn’t win. Kinda seriously bummed me out. I was super ready to celebrate the success of a friend. It’s ok there will be other awards no doubt.

First trip of our summer holidays has been booked. Great Wolf Lodge it is. Never heard of the place, but clearly located across North America.

It was Zane’s birthday. So of course it was a big themed birthday with a dollop of Mario Kart themed karting.
Been a tough day. I knew something was just not right from the start of the day. I just couldn’t articulate it clearly. The only wonderful moment is now. End of the day. Kids in bed. Cup of tea. Cool spring evening that only needs a t-shirt outside.
Something about open skies with those colours and a plane always makes me smile.
Been cooking with Kashmiri chilli powder. What an ingredient. Just incredible. Soo good and makes a huge difference to curries.
⚽️ Great end to the season for Manchester United and actually a bit of optimism for the season ahead. For several years, watching this team has been hard work. It’s been fun under Carrick.
Costco on a Saturday morning is chaos. Thankfully we’ve honed into what we want mostly so it’s relatively quick to get in and out.
The robins have hatched which is nice to see.
🍿 Finished watching: The Hunting Wives. Yasmine suggested we watch this. We nearly gave up after episode 2, but the murder mystery element kept us coming back for more. In spite a lot of elements we did not like.
🏆 This year the World Cup is actually happening in North America, where I live. And yet there is literally no chance I am paying $1000 for ticket at the nosebleeds. Its such flagrant exploitation, but there will be enough crazies that will pay those prices.
Victoria Day. Coffee in the morning. Birds are chirping away. Sun is shining. Good times.
🍿 Finished watching: Remarkably Bright Creatures. Fantastic movie. I don’t think I’ve seen a Sally Field movie since Mrs.Doubtfire, but she really nailed her character and lifts the movie.
It is a rarity these days to get some mental calm and try and get into a good book. I’ve tried to read this book a few times in the last couple of years. The concept is great, just need to commit.
First time I have felt the warmth of the sun on my skin and head for 6 months. No idea if that is healthy or not - but it’s an incredibly welcome feeling at the moment.
