  1. Leaning into agentic coding: (almost) a year in (short) review

Last year, while I was marooned in France, I wrote a bit of a reflection on my stance of using generative AI to write software. I don't pretend - in this moment - like it's a bit of a double edged sword: I don't pay for things like Antrophic or OpenAI, given their explicit involvement in being used for violence. However, there's nothing stopping the eventual transition of large government agencies to newer open models built from the ground up from the millions of documents used for public…

  2. 'There's More Black People Over There': False Equivalences in Platform Distribution and Gimmicks of Platform Capitalism

A point that might be one of grievance of a lost space never truly owned by Black people but still run by it tends to pop up on my "Following" feed on Bluesky once a month. I don't see such conversations on places like Threads — it's really an insular space of "you see what the algorithm determines worthy of attention". It comes from a variation of folks but routinely from folks who seem to long for a space that no longer exists. Yes - Twitter, now X - the company still exists, but there's a…

  3. I'm Sisyphus and my website is my (worry)stone

I've had this version of my static site using Eleventy for some time. It really does the job and I've enjoyed my use of it. However, I'm slightly slamming against limits that I don't want to deal with it. I've begun working on yet another CMS attempt, codenamed "ticaye" (little house in Haitian Kreyol), but I had to put that off to the side because of my need to work on more immediate projects - livtet and divine being the most recent. I'm figuring that also by blogging, I'll get a bit of focus…

  4. Being nice for free is a bad idea

I think I've managed to cultivate a online personality that makes it clear that I'm not nice to everyone who comes across my way. I'll be kind to strangers — without a doubt; but not everyone deserves the expending of energy that comes with being nice. Depending on who you are, I either have good things or bad things to say about you — which is how humans with some level of social interactivity and opinion forming tend to be. Just ask someone into sports or music — they have a minefield of…

  5. A realignment of things

So I've done some things. Deleting My Fediverse Account Last night, I deleted my Mastodon account of at least ~5 years from https://todon.eu. It was where I went after PlayVicious, run by https://roiskinda.cool shut down. Normally, I feel things - a decoupling, a sense of loss - when deleting accounts like this. But I felt more deleting my Microsoft account than deleting this one. I have a backup and plan on selectively adding folks into https://fed.brid.gy/ so I can still see posts from my…

  6. Where I'm going with the work I'm leaning into now

I posted on the site for Olamaelcu and I wrote about it in my newsletter but it doesn't feel official if it's not coming from my website - the one I haven't published on in more than half a year. It didn't help that the longer I waited, the more I felt like I was letting the site effectively grow stale, irrelevant or useless[1]. The only thing stopping me from using this thing was myself. Seriously — I'm still in the middle of this revival of what would have been what was running at…
