In a strange turn of events, I spent my 4th of July at banana ball with 70,000 people. This is not classically my type of event for a few reasons: - crowd - sports - audience participation And yet, I let go of expectations and allowed myself to have whatever experience I was going to have.

I still use my Kindle 3 Keyboard ereader from 2010. It has physical buttons and a physical keyboard and no backlight and no ads and very good contrast. I have read hundreds of books on it. It lasts several weeks on a charge and the battery was a champ until it finally died in 2025. The battery was easy to replace and I still use my Kindle Keyboard almost every day. It's photo dump time! I took a little trip for my birthday to see Built to Spill play at Codfish Hollow and to explore the Maquoketa Caves. This was my first time at Codfish Hollow, and it is definitely a gem of the midwest! The show was in a barn and there were food trucks and artist booths.
