Its so weird to me that so many in software development have so much disdain for software development. I’m definitely a “means to an end” guy when it comes to coding, but in the same way that I cook because I want to eat delicious food. But I don’t disdain the work of professional chefs. It is deeply funny to me that Anthropic straight up announced that Fable will quietly nerf itself if you try to use it to build a competitor. It’s so frustrating that AI is both destroying the open web by drowning it in slop and burying it in scrapers while it’s also a powerful tool for folks who want to launch their own blog or website. By making the technical challenges tractable, AI makes the indieweb more accessible than ever, and used properly can enable human communication and connection instead of destroying it. But that doesn’t feed the capitalist machine. 👨💻
