I love when it gets just a bit cold, and I can finally get comfy with some pants and a blanket, instead of sweating each 30 minutes while sitting in my desk because it's absurdely hot (that's 80% of the year where I live). Hot drinks also get a lot better, and that includes coffee! Morning coffee feels so amazing. I also prefer winter clothes more, and I don't really see any benefits when it's sunny aside from the sky being more beautiful (though the winter sky and atmosphere has it's place).
Been just really excited about the upcoming d&d session. It's been really fun creating my oc and writing how he deals with certain situations or characteristics about him. Aside from that, just really sleepy today. A really short post, but I guess it's bound to happen eventually in these post-everyday challenges. Feels a bit strange, like I'm making my blog messy. But that would entail that the other posts are "clean" and orderly. That must be the social media wiring in my brain, because it…
I don't wanna sound like an old man stuck in the past but after watching the State of Play and the Summer Games Fest I don't think I could have another take. I didn't want to play almost any of the games shown, and they all look so similar. The events really just feel like a money-centered replayfest. The games are either remasters, remakes or sequences. There were so few original ideas and titles. Maybe it's just the triple A companies? I dunno. These things just make me appreciate indie games…
I will not miss today's post! I actually went out today to watch the new backrooms movie with some friends. Going out itself was nice and talking to them was great as usual, the movie was alright. I enjoyed the exploration / horror part of it, but I think it kinda lost the plot towards the end. It mixed too many things and tried to be too much or too deep, and ended up not truly succeeding in any of it. 7/10 for me, a bit confusing at times. I've also been really focused on my new "D&D" (not…
This is part of my Song Snapshots "series", which I explain better in this post It's a core memory of mine, how I was first introduced to Gorillaz. It's one of my favorite bands now, and if I'm not mistaken my first impression was when I was 8 or 9 years old. Me and my family were on vacation, sort of a countryside trip. Me and my cousins were just talking and chilling to some background music, and one of my cousins who had the notebook (which was playing the music) put on the Clint Eastwood…
I've been missing a fellow blogger here on bear: the lamppost He used to post right after I finished brewing coffee at work, so I would start my work day by reading his post while drinking coffee. It always gave me a comfy feeling, sort of a routine-like warmth. It's been a while since he last posted, hope he's doing alright. I never got to email him, guess I just never got the urge to, I just appreciated the posts silently, admiring the photo and getting lost in it, imagining a story or…
I want to try to write everyday for this month, still feeling uninspired and without ideas of what to write, so it's gonna be a challenge for sure. I've had random urges to just delete everything, I don't know why that happens when I'm not being able to write, I think it's my brain afraid of failure? So it enters this all or nothing mode, where I either write something or delete everything. Most times I had that thought though, it just didn't make sense. Even if I don't have anything to write…
My days have been pretty similar. I'm close to finishing Divinity: Original Sin 2, also been watching a friend play Outer Wilds (I made him play it), always love seeing a new playthrough, since I cannot play it again. Been enjoying making coffee for me and my wife in the morning and afternoon, goes so hard with banana bread (which I also made for the first time recently! Crazy good). Hobbies have been up and down, I made this drawing ~ And I was honestly satisfied with the result. I like how…
What to write..... I feel like I have to acknowledge that I've been writing way less. I think I'm just not feeling as inspired. When going to work I saw a lot of different people and places, each doing their own thing, each having it's own moment. Something so simple yet it made me reflect more. At home I don't have an exact inspiring view, so I guess I'm left with having to raw dog writing? In my last post I wrote about how other bear bloggers and their posts inspired me to write, which is…
Yeah I did not have anything to write these days. In truth, I just didn't actually try to write. If I sit and try to do it I'll probably be able to, but I got extremely addicted to Divinity Original Sin 2. I mentioned it in my last post, but back then I was sorta just casually playing, but now I'm 100% invested in it. I'm playing it in a way I haven't played anything for a long time. Waking up thinking of the game, playing it basically all day long and going to sleep thinking about it. There's…
Last week I had my first D&D session, and yesterday I had my second one. Two completely different worlds. I always consumed a lot of content related to RPG, played a bunch of RPG games and games that really simulate a D&D table well like baldur's gate and divinity original sin, I watched Vox Machina and Mighty Nein, so I've always appreciated the RPG world but had never actually played D&D myself. I think that's only because the opportunity didn't appear before and I didn't have the urge to…
I was trying to remember the name of some old hidden-object games I used to play as a kid, and after a while and some searches I got it! The two main series I liked were Mystery Case Files (specifically Return to Ravenhearst) and Mortimer Beckett. I was introduced to them because my parents played them and would often invite me to play with them, helping in puzzles and finding the objects. It was incredibly fun and I think it's one of the first ways I started learning english. Those games were…
This is my entry for this month's bearblog carnival hosted by Kami. I was thinking what I do / like that can be considered niche...at first I thought of Battlerite, a game I used to play (when it was alive) back in ~2016 until around 2020. But I don't play it anymore because it unfortunately died. If there were players I would 100% be playing that, it's my favorite PVP game of all time. I have a post in my drafts named "I'm gonna bring back Battlerite", talking about getting into gamedev and…
I'm still adapting to being unemployed. My brain was completely wired into fitting writing, drawing, playing the guitar, watching stuff with my wife and gaming in a schedule where I had 3 hours of free time per day. Now that I can just do whatever basically anytime I have to re-adapt. I used to come up with writing and blog post ideas in my commute (1h to work, 1h30 back home), but having access to my computer 100% of the day makes it really easy to get distracted and not do my hobbies. My…
After two stressful days messing with my nvim config, I managed to get it working decently. I wanted to use this initial period of unemployment to chill out a bit, but things weren't working out. Everyone goes through that period where anything you attempt goes wrong somehow. That's what it felt like. I couldn't write, had plenty of ideas to but nothing was coming out. I fucked up while cooking lunch and the meat got tough and chewy. Small annoying things that sum up and ruin the mood.…
My current setup for my home computer is, unfortunately, windows 11 with WSL, currently running Ubuntu 22.04, really bad, I know. I absolutely hate windows and microsoft, but this PC was more intended for gaming at the time I built it. The WSL setup was enough for the amount of work I was doing at home. I had planned to change it as soon as I got a remote job or got fired, as it would be the main computer for both programming and gaming. The reason I chose that as my setup is because I was a…
For english readers: I'm not sure if I'll translate this post, for now I suggest using Kagi translate if you want to read it :) Um post em português, logo depois de ser demitido, e não é coincidência.
Yep. That's basically it. Not seeing it as a bad thing though, I really didn't have room to improve there. It was limiting my capabilities by a huge amount. I got enough to live for some months, meanwhile I'll try my best to find a new, better job. It was my first job, learned a lot, built some cool projects, but it was indeed time for a change. I had been looking for a new job for the past 2 years. Now it's do or die. 3 and a half years of programming experience, but there's still a mountain…
I wanted to post something these last 4 days. The writer inside my brain was pulling my ear, telling me to write anything, short or not, just write. I even opened up my editor, came up with a few ideas, but the words did not came as they naturally do. I also tried continuing some drafts but I was really stuck for some reason. I ended up not writing anything, and it felt bad not being able to do something I enjoy, like when you're really eager for a specific food but the place that sells it is…
