Rewatching “State of Play” (Universal Pictures, 2009). Not only is it a good picture with actors I like but the outdoor scenes were shot in DC, making it feel like a 2009 version of home.

It's a bit frustrating rewatching Wonder Woman knowing that everything around it kind of fell apart in the end. For me, this is the template for how DC should be approaching their movies. Wonder Woman feels standalone and, while Diana appears in plenty of future movies, this movie does not rely on future revelations to make it a worthwhile viewing experience. I'd much prefer if this was the approach going forward - a focus on standalone movies that don't need to connect to a greater universe.…
