The Phillies Eked Their Way Into The Playoffs.

The Phillies this year have had one of the strangest seasons I can remember. The Mets too, but I’m not in the least bit concerned about those losers. I had pretty high expectations for the Phillies coming into this season, and they had an awful start to the year. One of the worst I can remember. They were so bad at that time that I thought that there was no way they would wind up making the postseason or even having a winning season. Before the season they released Nick. Early in the season they fired Topper. I don’t think he was the problem. He was not the one out there at the plate who forgot how to hit. They also released Walker. I actually felt bad for him. I think he tried to improve, but he just wasn’t good at all. Following the terrible start, the Phillies had a period where they seemed to be one of the best teams in baseball. They were all hitting. The starting pitching was excellent, and the bullpen was manageable. More than once they were close to catching up to the Braves…
