Adding line breaks in Markdown

In CommonMark, there are two ways to add line breaks within a paragraph: Add two spaces at the end of the line Add a backslash (\) character at the end of the line I tend to prefer the latter, since extraneous whitespace is invisible in many editors and tends to be stripped. For example, the silly haiku from my (current) /now page: Onset of Autumn,\ Squirrels collect butternuts;\ Last days on the beach.
