I don't mind road cycling, but...

The bicycle is one of the best inventions humanity has ever created. A mobility tool which the average person can learn to maintain, with a wide range of possibilities for modification. Now I’ve spent enough time on the roads on all sorts of bikes. You see a bit more of the country than you would otherwise. You can stop at more places like cafes, rivers, and the like. But damn is it lonely! It’s hard enough to find a friend, let alone someone who shares the same hobby as you. And the maintenance! Cleaning your components! Especially indoors like I have to, without a convenient hosepipe and drain (are we still in a hosepipe ban, incidentally?). Running is infinitely more accessible and social, although I wouldn’t want to subject anyone else to the workouts I’m doing. What was the point of this post? Therapeutic ranting. I’m going out for a morning ride tomorrow, then to recover and put my feet up I’m watching The Odyssey.
