Screenprinting with Natural Dyes

I took a workshop called Screenprinting with Natural Dyes, led by Lilah Ward. It was so much fun! Preparing to print one of my duck illustrationsMy artwork has been trending towards more fabric printing and fiber art for years, but I've always been intimidated by the process of making your own dyes and inks. Years ago, I purchased the book Botanical Inks by Babs Behan, but I was immediately overwhelmed by the required materials and number of steps. There are so many new terms: scouring, mordants, dunging. It's a lot to figure out on your own.Luckily, the workshop was a chance to experiment with the materials without committing to buying all of the tools and materials at once. The class was four sessions, in which we dyed fabric and made screenprinting inks using natural pigments. My duck illustrations printed on two different dyed backgrounds.
