My social media usage has always had a tendency to ebb and flow so I hadn’t thought much about it. But then today this post from Jack and this one from Kev popped up in my RSS reader and my immediate thought was “yep, that’s it”.Manuel also posted this today, and I quote:And that is why social media dialogue is fundamentally unhelpful. It’s a lot of saying and not much listening. Which is why it often degrades into the lowest forms of communication: the name-calling, the ridiculing, the mocking, the shouting, the insulting. Not much progress though, which is unfortunate.So, yeah, I’m not cutting off social media entirely, I’m just distancing myself a little. I’d much rather spend time working on new artwork without getting distracted by the social media outrage-machine.I have a list of people I follow on Mastodon that I really enjoy interacting with so I’m keeping up with post from them, but… No comments yet.
