I remember walking into Christian’s office to tell him that I had made the decision that I would need to make a move away from Denmark. While I loved the place (excluding the weather), my family was just not settled. More than anyone, I think he understood my position (having gone through the exact same thing with his family). When I mentioned to him that the choice was Canada, he was surprised. ‘Canada. Not America?’ I have always been someone that likes to look at the long game. Maybe patience is my secret power? In Canada I saw some form of stability over a much longer period of time. Certainly in the short term America held greater appeal maybe, but equally I was scared of many things that never aligned with how I want to live my life. My wife, who herself is half American asked the same exact question. Canada offered much of the lifestyle that was available to Americans but with a few more guardrails to help protect everyone. What I could never predict was where America is now.…
