Last night I met up with an acquaintance here. Another barang person from America. I meet relatively few Americans here so seeing him occasionally is nice. He’s lived here perhaps 10 years now. Has a Cambodian wife and a large family. I guess most families here are large. I’ve not met his wife and see him when I go out to have some beer. Then we talk.Last night it was about family and daily life here for us. Usually seeing him means an opportunity to talk about life back there. Our desires here. What has happened in the last weeks since we met. It’s a potpourri of whatever. Seasoned with memories and people. Neither of us have anything back in America so it’s about finding Cambodia as a home. For him it’s a total thing. He has all he wants here. For me, I like living here. Love my wife. The daily life is easy. If you’re thinking retirement somewhere unique with an easy life I’d say Cambodia has more than fulfilled whatever expectations I may have had. It’s not home to me though and…
