Getting back from a week in Phnom Penh and Kampot has left me feeling this way about Siem Reap. I was journaling like I do in the mornings and it dawned on me just writing whatever. The problem is that it’s familiar. I just know it. I know the streets and most of the city. I walk the streets downtown sometimes. Find small side streets I enjoy. Then I went to Kampot. Something broke in me there. Like the whole thing with Siem Reap fell apart just a little bit. This started to bother me in the ride to the house here. I also have realized I never call it home. It never has felt like that. Now that we’re back I silently wish to be in Kampot again. To have the unfamiliar. The unknown little side streets where I could walk. But also the known. The every day walk along the riverwalk that I often started my day at.Like many people there I go at morning for a walk first then coffee. The mornings are cooler there. The wind brushes up and sends the wider river in little waves. I want a new place…
