Thus… Starslayer vol. 1 #1-5 As a kid, I remember seeing ads for this comic in Comics Scene and wanting it because Mike Grell, but nothing from Pacific Comics ever found its way into any of the retail outlets from which I got comics. However, Mike Grell isn’t the (only) reason I picked up this set once I saw it available for what seemed a reasonable price, but rather what was included, which was the thing I really didn’t need yet had to have. Yes, that’s right – the Rocketeer made his debut in a preview in the pages of Starslayer. I didn’t know that at the time, especially since, up until stories about the then-upcoming Rocketeer movie started popping up, I was only dimly aware of the character’s existence. (And even that awareness was largely limited to having seen a certain poster in the pages of a Bud Plant catalog that caught the eye of young Jon and now hangs on old Jon’s wall and…
