I would be working at a bakery/café, which I felt would be a great first step in gaining experience in this industry. The application was in German so I prepared to have the interview in German. When the call happened, I noticed the connection from her end was really bad. She tried to fix it, but it didn't work well. Some English slipped out, so she asked if we should do the interview in English. I jumped at the chance. I felt I was already at a disadvantage not being able to hear her, so I wanted to feel confident about something. The interview went really well. In fact, she said my answers were "perfect." I felt like I was able to fully express myself and it seemed positive. "So, you're working 50%, right?" she asked. "Actually, I would like to work 80%," I replied.
