Long ago, around the time I started blogging, I had a girlfriend who was an art historian. She often did research at The Netherlands Interuniversity Institute for Art History (NIKI) in Florence, Italy, and I visited her there a few times. They allowed guests to stay at the institute, which was (and still is) at walking distance from downtown Florence. According to her LinkedIn profile, she is doing well, I suppose. I wouldn’t know otherwise, since she told me she never wanted to see me again when I broke up with her. These beans are decaf, fair trade and sustainable and must be the most expensive I can afford. I grind them by hand. Visiting Florence with my wife and kids last month was the first time I saw the city in over twenty years, and it was a perfect blast from the past. Not much was changed (in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if not much had changed since the late 1500s).
