Especially whilst growing up. I grew up in Oldham. A town in Greater Manchester in the North West of England. You probably haven’t heard of it. If you have it’s probably for its 15 minutes on the world stage during its race related riots in 2001. Oldham is quite culturally diverse due to the cotton, textile and manufacturing mills built within the town. It has a high level of people with South Asian heritage as well as other small minority communities and of course white people as well. A government report after these riots brought up the concept of “parallel lives” as the blame for a lot of the issues. Essentially the concept of two diverse ethnic groups living alongside each other with no restrictions but choosing to live entirely separate lives without much… No comments yet.
