Joe Crawford is hosting this month’s IndieWeb carnival, and the theme is “Masks, Identities & Cosplay”. Thanks, Joe, for hosting and for picking a strong theme! The concepts of cosplay, masks and secret identities are not new, nor connected to one particular setting. However, I’m not here to talk about the masks outside, but the ones we display inside. The way we act, behave, and interact with different other individuals in various social contexts. When you go to your grandmother for Christmas dinner, you’re the perfect kid, even though you’re 20, doesn’t touch drugs, does his homework and stays out of trouble. To your flatmates at Uni you’re the moderately-drinking, always-partying dude, always being up for a round of Counter-Strike or Warcraft match regardless of the time, if school was in, or if we had exams the next day.
