I'm awake at a weird hour because of piloerection. I assure you piloerection is an actual term and a condition of the human body even though the Bear Blog editor insists on underlining it as a misspelling. It means the erection or bristling of hairs due to the involuntary contraction of small muscles at the base of hair follicles that occurs as a reflexive response of the sympathetic nervous system especially to cold, shock, or fright. Basically I'm too aware of my body hair despite not having much of it, maybe because I was sweating throughout the night and my ceiling fan is providing enough of a breeze to give me goosebumps. I tried to go back to sleep but the piloerection was relentless. I've become obsessed with the term piloerection even though it's kind of gross, because it's kind of gross. I think it's sad and kind of interesting in a boring way that it's becoming increasingly difficult to explain why you'd keep a blog for yourself and not to capture a segment of the 'attention…
