The early life of musician Michael Jackson, from the discovery of his talent as the lead of the Jackson Five to the artist whose creative ambition fueled a pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world. It’s hard to make something about Michael Jackson without falling into controversy, or falling flat. However, this biopic about the life of the greatest pop star that’s ever lived is a complex story about music, business, abuse and finding yourself and stops just right, with the 1988 London concert, showing the formation years of Michael. Colman Domingo and Nia Long play great Michael’s parents, but Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of Michael does a great job at portraying his uncle, setting himself up for an Oscar for his performance. All in all, four popcorns for a good movie, that feels somehow empty and incomplete.
