Movies: Wag the Dog (1997)

Shortly before an election, a spin-doctor and a Hollywood producer join efforts to fabricate a war in order to cover up a Presidential sex scandal. I never thought a political movie can be so fun. Showing how the government spins story in order to distract the population from various things and have them focus on the desired narrative, it makes us question the reality of the facts presented by the news, while also being entertaining and funny. A great dark comedy about some really dark times we live in. Have to praise the great acting by Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman, with the great appearances by Anne Heche and Woody Harrelson, all under the great direction of Barry Levinson (The Natural, Rain Man, Good Morning Vietnam, Sleepers and Avalon).
