Yesterday I sat down to make music on my Akai Mini 3 MIDI Controller that I have now had for four years. Starting from right after I got it, and all the time since, I have been unhappy with the velocity curves of the keys. Even pressing down on them strongly only led to very silent responses in the virtual instruments I was trying to control. Until now I have always tried to set custom velocity curves inside the studio software I was using, e.g. Ableton, FL Studio, VSTs, etc. Not every software supported this, and the ones that did often implemented it in different ways. So I have always just accepted that I might stay a little unhappy with having purchased the device. Yesterday, I decided to research into whether other people were also unhappy with the default velocity responses. And indeed, I found multiple posts on reddit and the sorts where people were speaking of a mysterious hidden feature that seemed to allow to change the values inside the device.
