The story of Easy Company of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division and their mission in World War II Europe, from Operation Overlord to V-J Day. This could have easily been one of the best War movies ever made. It’s got Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg as creators and executive producers, a great backstory, a myriad of great actors. However, the shake-cam at the start so excessive, I almost quit the series before the end of the third episode, because it would make me go dizzy. I understand its usage, to show action and the horrors of war and all that shit, but it’s just too much, reminding me of Gaspar Noé’s “Enter the Void” with its incessant blinking. Thankfully, only the first episodes are plagued by this, and then once you get caught by the stories and the characters, you’re hooked. All in all, it’s a masterpiece showing the heroism of some men, despite the adversity of war, based on the real stories from the World War II.
