Spent the last weekend in Seattle hanging out with friends. Had a wonderful time. I don’t get to do things like this very often and every time I do it’s such a restorative experience. I spend so much of my life at home going through the same routines and hearing the same conversation topics that it gets dull. A change in scenery and people is a good shake up. Makes all the mundane moments feel novel. Sitting around watching someone play a game and just shooting the shit isn’t anything new (I do that all the time at home), but it’s refreshing in the context of friends I don’t see very often. Even if the actual activities don’t really differ, the context, the energy makes anything feel new and meaningful. I feel pretty confident in being introverted, but the ways I feel energized after even a brief time in the vicinity of friends makes me wonder if I learn more extroverted than I think. I’m not the most chatty person, but I can’t deny the positive effect being around others brings.…
