At some point, I had the task of helping demolish and re-construct a whole house, where I would at least partially live. It wasn't in the middle of nowhere, but I can assure that wasn't the big apple. In fact, what I want to talk about is pears. Kind of. The house had (still has) a big terrain, and around 50% of it had trees. I am fond of four of them: a Pyrus communis (pear), several Prunus dulcis (almond), a Citrus × sinensis (blood/red orange) and a Citrus × limon (lemon). I hope I used those names correctly. I can separate why I am fond of these trees (not their species, but those trees at that place) in two categories: because of how they look, and because of their fruit. Funnily enough I am more affectionate to the ones I like because of their looks. Sadly, they are also the ones that disappeared: the pear and the almond. And also funnily enough, while searching for this post, I discovered they are both from the Rosaceae family. That means they are related to roses! My favourite…
