  4. A Seasonal Review — Spring 2026

Didn’t Watch: See Seasonal Impressions I watched way too much anime this season… 22. I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class — D+ They start dating in six episodes. Also let’s rank all the girls by how pretty they are. 21. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime S4 — Ongoing Surprisingly lack of genocide recently. 20. Ascendance of a Bookworm — Ongoing This anime has somehow made me hate a child for being a class traitor. 19. Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun — Ongoing This…

  5. Eren the Southpaw Review — B-

All creative people are nuts. On some level, I don’t really understand what this show was going for. It jumped through time, the titular character barely shows up for half the show, it keeps introducing new geniuses in totally different fields, and… none of this particularly seems to have paid off? I mostly enjoyed this from the perspective of “what is this crazy person going to do next”??? I think the high point was when somebody got shot for the sake of art. Storytelling – C – Very…

  6. Nippon Sangoku Review — A

Post-apocalyptic Japanese Three Kingdoms. This ruled so hard. Shows like this are why I watch anime. Clearly created by someone who loves Three Kingdoms lol. Truly recalled the most entertaining aspects of the book. The politicking. The speeches. The backstabbing. Most of the wars being won by people being idiots. Putting all this effort into establishing characters only for them to randomly die off-screen. It looks absolutely fantastic. The characters have enormous personalities. This was…

  7. An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess Review — B

Like the title says. Another villainess show, but with the slight twist that it’s told from the perspective of the prince who’s fated to be with the heroine. It was adorable. They are all too precious. Storytelling – B – Well told. Voice – B – Certainly we’ve seen shows with the same premise, but none did it this well. Characters – A – Very well developed. Not what I would have expected from this type of show. Attention Grab – B – Kept my interest. Production – B – Looks good. Overall – B…

  8. Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon Review — B-

We’re never going to run out of isekai ideas, are we? I have to applaud the sheer creativity of the premise. They took the dumbest thing they could think of and they went all in. And it worked! It was an enjoyable, lighthearted show. It dragged a bit in the second season, there were possibly too many cute girls obsessed with the vending machine by the end, and the villains were a bit underdeveloped, but eh, overall I enjoyed it. The most important thing is seeing all the different types of…

  9. The Klutzy Class Monitor and the Girl with the Short Skirt — C

Mismatched high school couples fall in love. The couples are cute, and I really liked the art style (felt more cartoonish than what seems to be in style now). I think the main problem might just be that I’m old. These high school love stories don’t really do it for me anymore. It was very serviceable and well done, and I think I would have enjoyed this much more a decade ago. Storytelling – C – It was cute sometimes, not really funny though. Voice – C – It’s a popular topic… Characters – C –…

  10. The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King Review — C+

Enemies to lovers, learning about different cultures, and just a touch trashy! It was enjoyable, if pretty predictable after the first episode. Decent sense of humor, and I did appreciate the trashiness. Very plausibly deniable. Enjoyed the visuals as well. Storytelling – C – Simple but entertaining. Voice – B – I do like the setup. Characters – C – Decent but very simple. Attention Grab – C – Kept my interest. Production – B – Looks pretty great? Times like these when I wish I knew something…

  11. I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class Review — D+

Spoiler: they were not just friends. I would categorize this in the genre of Oregairu, Bunny Girl Senpai, Tomozaki-kun: high school kids giving philosophical reflections on life and overthinking their relationships with everyone. This one has probably some of the dumbest takes of the genre though. Starting with the title. Hope he never tells her that. I finished it, but was pretty bored by the end. Especially once they actually started dating pretty quickly. One point in its favor, usually in…

  12. Dr. Stone Review — B-

Everyone on Earth is turned to stone, our hero saves us with the power of SCIENCE!!! Ok, so this show was very childish, but I enjoyed it. For a show about science it sure has a child’s understanding of science. It’s larger than life characters who do science, not tons of people working together. It vastly underestimates what’s needed to do a Moon landing, to say the least. I especially enjoyed when they did a trip around the world and visited where I live and where I work. The accuracy… was…

  14. Always a Catch! Review — C+

A cute girl who loves violence marries the prince who dumped her thinking she was somebody else. I enjoyed this. It’s cute. But I can’t help comparing it to the recent “May I Ask for One Final Thing?”, which has a similar premise of a cute princess who punches things. And in comparison “Always a Catch!”… lacks a punch. I’m sorry. But really. It comes across as half-assed. The first episode ends with the prince pulling a total asshole move of publicly dumping his fiancee and mistaking her for…

  15. Release That Witch! Review — B

Listen people. It’s Chinese communist isekai. How can you say no to that??? I’ve read the manga too. It’s complete slop but this is the slop I love and I’m not sorry about it. The character designs and art are way better than in the manga too. Everyone looks the same in the manga. The only bad point is that it’s very short at only eight episodes and barely gets things started before it ends. Still, great adaptation. I’ve watched very little out of mainland China—- usually I watch the first…
