My latest project is turning my Bazzite-based living-room PC into a multimedia console. It is currently using a 3D-printed case, but I am planning to switch to a Fractal Design Ridge, add a new PSU, a new CPU cooler, and a Flirc USB dongle. After that, I would install Plex and a YouTube client, then use it with an 8BitDo XBOX media remote to replace my Apple TV. There are two reasons I want to replace the Apple TV. The first is that I am slowly leaving the Apple ecosystem. I still use HomePods in a stereo setup, so I would keep using the Apple TV until either the HomePods die or Sonos, or a different company, has a good sale. (To keep using eARC, I still need the Apple TV for now.) The second reason is that the Apple TV YouTube app is complete and utter trash. I watch nearly all of my content at 2x speed. But sometimes, the app forces videos down to 480p when I do that. And even if I manually switch back to 1080p or 4K, it removes the 2x speed. So it is either speed or quality, and…
