Older ThinkPads has better laptop keyboards and aesthetics. Modern ThinkPads has better displays and more power, but lack the above. The ThinkPad X60 was peak. Too bad laptops aren't made like this anymore. I thought the X250 was a fairly good middle ground. It was my daily driver for many years before I switched to my current X1 Nano. While the X1 Nano is completely satisfactory, I started to miss the slightly more bulky aesthetic and feeling of typing on a real keyboard. I don't remember exactly how, but somehow I stumbled across mechanical keyboards being advertised as laptop keyboard replacements by placing them on top of the laptop. I didn't realize this was even a thing. It seems like such an obvious idea in hindsight, and I'm amazed it never crossed my mind. The Keychron K9 Max (60% layout with custom black keycaps) fits perfectly on top of my X1 Nano. Finally, a modern ThinkPad with a real keyboard. This is my ThinkPad endgame.
