Today’s read was a random impulse purchase. I thought the plot had some potential metafictional possibilities. However, reflecting on the book as a whole I don’t think metafiction is a particularly strong or consistent note in the piece. When it does make itself more present, it is unleashed in a massive unsatisfying lump, and I ended up being relieved when it disappeared off the page again (some twists just aren’t that great).
