Don't make a mistake as stupid as mine

Real true story here, but I was in NYC, and you know how people say they took a chance and it ended up working out for them? I thought things were going to work out for me as well. So I had a couple thousand dollars and I was in New York looking for an apartment, meanwhile I have already basically burned all of the other bridges. So I had nowhere to go but I at least had money to rent something until I find a job. I do this all the time and it worked in the past. A little bit of unpredictability never hurt me. But this time my bank decided I didn't need my money, they blocked all of it, and really refused to communicate why. Spoiler: I received my money back but it took me several months to do that. So I had no money and no place to stay, in one of the most expensive places in America, and I didn't even have time to sort things out because they froze the funds overnight.
