When some of my friends set their minds to something, they don’t stop. They make it look easy. I know friends who commit to publishing a newsletter every month, and they’ve been doing it for years. Though I write this blog post every day, there are many times when I consider quitting. The path is just so easy to slide into: just take your hands off the keyboard for a couple of days, or let business or personal life get in the way, and you’re easily on your way there. “A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people,” Thomas Mann’s quote goes. Consistency doesn’t come so naturally to me. It’s not my superpower. It takes a lot of effort; sometimes, in the spirit of Thomas’s quote, I wonder if it’s more effort than most. (Which is exactly why I needed to make a journal for it.) The post Reflecting on creative consistency appeared first on Herbert Lui.
