There is currently a trend to reduce screentime in general, and in particular to replace screens with e-ink equivalents as a tool to do it. The Xteink X4 is a very trendy device right now (if you're in nerdy circles anyway). You can buy e-ink computer monitors, tablets you can write on, with color screens to read comic books on. Is e-ink a screen?Literally yes, obviously. But e-ink is static and less stimulating, less colorful, and sometimes looks like actual paper. It's also just too slow to use to scroll, play many games or consume video content. It doesn't even have to glow. So it's not technically reducing screentime but it could definitely reduce people's bad habits. My e-ink devicesI've purchased an ereader around every five years or so, but tended to keep the old ones which keep working, which makes me wonder if I've got some overconsumption going honestly (each new purchase did have a feature the previous one lacked though, like a touchscreen or a warm backlight).
