In 2020 Indigenous fishers from the Mi’kmaw First Nation in Nova Scotia came under attack from settler fishers. The Indigenous fishers were exercising their treaty rights, as granted by the Canadian Supreme Court, to catch lobster for ceremonial, personal use and to make a "moderate" living.
