writing has always been a bit of a mystery to me. by writing, i mean fiction. part of it, i think, comes from the fact that i’ve never experienced it as a full-time job. i believe writing requires practice just like any other profession. you need to write constantly, train that muscle, and slowly get better at it. and for that to happen, it demands your full attention. i can’t fully dedicate my time to writing a book and experiencing the process firsthand because i work as a freelance translator, and i need to keep working. but i do want to make the mystery a little smaller. when i have free time, i want to study the books whose style pulls me in. i keep them in an inspiration folder on my kobo. when work and other responsibilities quiet down for a while, i want to sit with those books and understand exactly why they affect me the way they do.
