In 2021, I created a blog post calling out Soydevs who create unoptimized websites on high specced computers without worrying about poor people who can’t afford expensive computers or smartphones or who have limited data allowances. A “Soydev” is a stereotype of a hipster who codes in an overpriced coffee shop on their MacBooks, using an unoptimized IDE (VS Code), producing crappy, unoptimized code. A “folk” of the Soyboy.
