Life We took the train up to Bev after school on Friday. Four hours’ travel would historically have been incredibly stressful with the kids (maybe even more so just with Ηη alone) but they’ve grown up so much it was bordering on pleasant. Σσ and Em were concerned that the state of the garden would have annoyed Ange when she saw it (they came down from Scotland on the Saturday) and pressed me into lawn-mowing service. This was interpreted (perhaps correctly) as a passive aggressive act, and set off quite a vitriolic row between Em, Kika, and Karl. The upshot was we didn’t see K&K for much of the rest of the weekend, but I think enough things were said (shouted) that there’s going to be no skirting round it in future. They’re going to have to confront some of the stuff that’s been bubbling away for a long time. Hopefully this can ultimately be a good thing. Fortunately the kids didn’t see their aunties going at it. I’m still a bit rudderless in the wake of the marathon but not long now…
