Let’s be real, there are endless online services and software applications that one can choose from to track and log the books you’ve read, are in progress of reading or are going to read. Some are a Software as a Service (SaaS) with fees, some are free and some even hold your data hostage without any means to export your data. No matter if it is a SaaS or an offline application they are often made more complicated than necessary and can end in diaster when the time comes for end of life (discontinued). I’ve used many solutions over the years, and I’m frankly tired of being treated like a product, my data being held hostage and having my privacy violated. I always prefer to use Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) that respects me as a user and having the freedom to choose to move on with my data.
