May 14, 2026 The other day I wrote in my notes: I'm contemplating migrating my task manager to the free version of Todoist. I'm speculating that Things 4 may be released soon, and I'm hesitant to pay an upgrade fee for three devices or a subscription if they adopt that model. Additionally, Todoist currently offers more features. Once I started the migration, I looked for a way to export my tasks from Things so I could import them into Todoist. The bottom line is there’s no easy way to export your data from Things. That meant I would have to manually recreate everything, which I really didn’t want to do. Eventually I found a solution that mostly worked. I discovered Todoist’s Add multiple tasks feature. It can turn a pasted list into individual tasks automatically. What I ended up doing was selecting all the tasks in a Things project, copying them, and pasting them into Todoist. Todoist turned each line into a separate task and even preserved the due dates.
