Olof Dreijer featuring Toya Delazy “Makwande” I think that even if you heard this not knowing Olof Dreijer was one half of The Knife, you’d still intuit that he had something to do with it, even if just in an “obvious influence” sort of way. It’s mostly in the tonal palette, which is very much a return to Dreijer’s ultra-bright keyboards in the Deep Cuts era. But it’s also in the perverse approach to pop – the hooks are warped, the shape feels slightly off, the rap feels like it’s laid diagonally against the beat. The best part is in how Dreijer stutters a snyth riff so it sounds like it’s getting bent by digital interference.
