My bank uses a feature I've seen advertised so often now called Early Deposit. It's blatantly a pandering feature and doesn't do anything truly valuable. If you get paid early this week it just means your payday is always a day ahead, but that's just your new payday so if you always get paid on the 7th now you just always get paid on the 6th. Feels meaningful, but it's not. Sure it's nice in the moment, but it doesn't move the needle after the first paycheck. Now you just get paid on the 6th so if you're running out of funds on the 5th instead of the 6th it's still going to be a day to late. The overall problem is how unreliable these functions are. Sometimes my check would come 2 days early and others it was 1 day. This week my check didn't come early at all. I don't know who's fault that is, but there is no one to complain to. The only thing I need with my paycheck is consistency. I can't be like "maybe it'll be here today" and make plans to pay my bills. That's why today I did some…
