I cooked this Sweet Potato Cottage Pie back in March, but never blogged about it. I found a recipe for Sweet Potato Sheperd’s Pie1 when looking for recipes to make with ground turkey. It was on the American Heart Association’s website and we are looking to eat a little healthier this year so it seemed like a good one to try. I hadn’t book marked the recipe, so on the day I started cooking I searched for it again and found a different recipe at Wholesome Yum. I eventually found the AHA/healthy version, but the Wholesome Yum one looked better to me. It is probably less healthy as it calls for butter in the mashed sweet potatoes (instead of skim milk) and some oil to sauté the onions – the AHA version just uses a little cooking spray. I decided to mix the two recipes and make a slightly less healthy version of the AHA pie. I still used the 95% fat free turkey, but I did add a little butter and garlic to the mashed sweet potatoes, and I sautéed the onoin and turkey in a little oil. The…
