As a part of dry fitting the keel to the boat prior to breaking out the epoxy and doing anything permanent, I decided I needed to steam bend the aft portion of the keel. As you can see in the plans below, the keel (which is about an inch thick piece of Doug Fir) takes quite the downward bend from the middle of the boat to the transom. I clamped the keel to the centerboard case (and to the stem, but that’s harder to see in the photo below).
